       In the production workshop of Guangzhou Xianhui Frozen Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guangzhou Xianhui”), the lychees picked in the peak season last year and frozen in ultra-low temperature liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees are not only plump and bright in color, but also have bright green leaves. This “black technology” solves the extremely challenging issue of lychee preservation in traditional agriculture. Solve the problem of freshness preservation

     In the minds of Guangdong people, lychees have always occupied a special position. According to statistics, my country’s lychee production area in 2023 was 7.9 million mu, with a production of 3.29 million tons; Guangdong’s lychee planting area was about 4 million mu, with a production of about 1.4 million tons, accounting for half of the country’s area and production, of which Maoming’s total lychee production was 620,900 tons.

     However, its preservation is an eternal problem. Once lychees are separated from the branches and leaves of the fruit tree, they will soon turn brown, which not only affects the appearance, but also the taste and flavor. This directly leads to short-term oversupply, annual undersupply, and lack of deep-processing raw materials in the entire agricultural product supply chain. The traditional method of preserving lychees in fruit baskets or foam boxes with ice can only keep lychees fresh for up to 15 days.

New quality productivity promotes industrial development

       We pioneered the continuous research and development and large-scale industrialization exploration of liquid nitrogen ultra-low temperature in the field of lychee in the industry. At present, Guangdong’s frozen lychee products have been popular among consumers in North China, Northeast China and other regions, which shows that this technology has broad prospects. “In January this year, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued a notice on the task list of the special science and technology project funds for the rural revitalization strategy (research and promotion and application of key technologies for storage and preservation of lychee), among which the research and development and industrial application of ultra-low temperature frozen fresh-keeping technology for lychee was unveiled, becoming another new quality productivity with broad prospects to help rural revitalization.

       The new technology has increased the survival rate of lychee cells from 80% to 90%, 95% or even higher, and has enabled more exports to overseas markets, allowing more consumers to taste the deliciousness of lychee.
